𧬠Cannabidiol (CBD) and Its Documented Properties in Pets
Cannabidiol (CBD), a natural phytocannabinoid from Cannabis sativa L., has attracted significant interest in veterinary research. Although clinical studies are ongoing, published research has explored the following physiological properties of CBD as a substance:
Stress and anxiety modulation β CBD influences serotonergic and endocannabinoid systems, helping reduce anxiety and emotional reactivity (Kogan et al., 2019).
Joint comfort and mobility β In dogs with osteoarthritis, CBD administration has been associated with improved mobility and relief (Gamble et al., 2018).
Epilepsy support β Clinical trials in dogs with idiopathic epilepsy showed reduced seizure frequency when CBD was used alongside antiepileptic therapy (McGrath et al., 2019).
Immunomodulation and inflammatory balance β CBD appears to modulate immune responses and inflammatory markers (Campora et al., 2012; Kogan et al., 2020).
Appetite and digestive balance β Preliminary data suggest it may stimulate appetite and improve gastrointestinal comfort (Deabold et al., 2019).
Antioxidant and cellular protection β CBDβs antioxidant properties help maintain healthy epithelial tissues, including oral tissues (Iffland & Grotenhermen, 2017).
Oral microbiome balance β In vitro, CBD inhibited bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis without irritating oral mucosa (Stahl & Vasudevan, 2020).
Homeostasis and systemic balance β CBD acts via the endocannabinoid system, present in all mammals, helping maintain physiological balance (Silver, 2019).

π§ Administration Guidelines
Give once or twice daily (morning/evening), after food for better absorption.
Start with the Low Dose and increase gradually every 3β5 days until the desired effect is observed.
The High Dose is intended for demanding cases and should be used under veterinary guidance.
π Scientific Background
This dosage guidance is based on veterinary studies evaluating CBD oil in dogs and cats.
Observed therapeutic ranges: 0.5β5 mg/kg/day, depending on the animal and its needs.
Safety has been documented up to 10 mg/kg/day, with only mild, transient reactions (e.g., drowsiness, increased ALP).
Cats metabolize CBD faster and may need slightly lower mg/kg doses, yet show very good long-term tolerance.
